Meters: our smart meters in your home
Counters are for you and us. They are the tools that help us measure your gas consumption. They are also called "smart meters" because they are all new and digital.
Our role? Stand by your side.
We bring gas to your home, regardless of who sends you the gas bills (sales company). Your counters are our property, which is why we are your contact persons and responsible for questions and requests. From reading to malfunctions, from movement to removal: for any need on the meters, you can contact us.
Following the provisions of the ARERA (Regulatory Authority for Energy Networks and the Environment) we are replacing all old analogue meters with smart meters: new, digital, safe and fundamental in the digitization of our network.
The plan to replace traditional meters with smart meters in Italy, also considering investee companies, reached, as of December 31, 2023, a total of 7.7 million smart meters installed (almost all of those active). We are also installing smart meters in Greece through our company Enaon: as of December 31, 2023, the installed digital meter fleet amounted to 64.4 thousand units.
Italgas has also developed in house the new Nimbus smart meter presented in December 2023 and to be tested in the field in 2024. The latest generation ‘H2 ready’ smart meter is designed to be hydrogen compatible and integrate advanced features for the measurement and management of green gases.
The installation of smart meters is a fundamental part of the digitization of our network. Our goal is to create a new generation of remotely manageable infrastructures, constantly monitored in a widespread manner, usable to collect data on their operation in order to make them increasingly efficient and safe. This transformation will also allow the introduction and distribution of other types of gases, such as renewable biomethane and green hydrogen, and their mixtures. In this way, we contribute together to the energy transition and the European Union’s goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
How to renew the meter?
We'll take care of it. We have the list of consumers to replace the meter for free and we are progressively contacting everyone. When the time is right, we will contact you to let you know the date and time of your appointment.
