Our digitalization journey

We are committed to unlocking the great potential of biomethane by promoting its connections and guaranteeing its quality. The essential prerequisite to promote the development of renewable gases is the digital transformation of networks that allows the creation of a smart, digital and flexible network ready to accommodate and manage different gases. Guided by this vision, in Italgas we began the digital transformation of assets, processes and people already in 2017 and we continue to invest following a program that will soon lead us to become the first gas utility in the world with a fully digitized network.
Digital transformation changes processes, improves them, facilitates people's work by making their daily lives easier, concretely demonstrates how much progress has to offer. Innovating is finding solutions to problems that have been there for years, unsolved.

The three pillars of innovation

  • Smart Grids

    Digitalization is at the heart of our strategy to transform networks into smart infrastructure With IoT sensors, smart meters and advanced monitoring technologies, we collect real-time data on flow rates, pressures and losses, ensuring optimised resource management.

  • Monitoring and Maintenance

    Remote monitoring and predictive maintenance are crucial in our digitized solutions. With the DANA (Digital Advanced Network Automation) system, we can continuously monitor the status of networks by intervening promptly in the event of anomalies.

  • Water Networks

    Italgas' strategy envisages growth in the water sector, taking advantage of the skills developed for innovation and digitisation of the natural gas distribution infrastructure. We have launched a programme to modernise our water network, investing in advanced technologies to reduce water losses and improve efficiency. The digitisation of the network, started with Italgas Acqua (now Nepta), has led to the creation of a fully remotely monitored and controlled network.

Our Cyber Security system is designed to prevent, recognize and reduce the risk of cyber attacks.

Renewable Gases

Towards the energy transition for a sustainable future. Through the technological vanguard developed over the years, we work on the integration of renewable gases, promoting the diversification of energy sources, the decarbonisation of consumption, improving efficiency and economy.
