We are a leader in gas distribution in Italy, and with the acquisition of 2i Rete Gas, which will be finalised in the first half of 2025, we will become the leading European entity in this sector. For over 185 years, we have been delivering gas to Italian households, factories, offices, and wherever it was required, contributing to the economic and social growth of the nation.

Today, we leverage our experience and innovative capacity to support the ecological transition. Gas networks are essential to ensure the availability of gas, energy security, and cost sustainability for citizens and businesses. Planned investments of EUR 15.6 billion from the Industrial Plan 2024-2030 will allow us to continue developing our assets by integrating 2i Rete Gas and enhancing their digitalisation, a crucial element for enabling the distribution of renewable gases – starting with biomethane, soon synthetic methane, and eventually hydrogen – while also reducing our carbon footprint. A fully digitalised, intelligent, and flexible network is necessary to handle the concurrent presence of various types of gas in the grid effectively.

The Strategic Plan 2024-2030 raises targets for technology upgrades and automation of networks, plants, and processes. This will mark the beginning of a ‘phase 2’ of transformation, capitalising on the opportunities provided by Artificial Intelligence. AI will be a strategic partner that will enhance work quality, operational excellence, and profitability across all business sectors of Italgas: gas, water, energy efficiency, and information technology.

Additionally, with the acquisition of Depa Infrastructure, now Enaon, in September 2022, we are advancing the development of the gas distribution network in Greece.

We also capitalise on our unique competencies to foster new business opportunities in energy efficiency solutions through Geoside, in water services with Nepta – where we have become a key player in Italy – and in information technology via Bludigit.
